Type Locality and Naming

Along the river Kugart, Eastern Fergana. Northern N. Simakov. Initially distinguished as the variegated suite (153; 417). N.N. Bobkova. Page (446).

Lithology and Thickness

Variegated sandstones, clays with interlayers of marls, locally (Kugart, Achisay) interlayers of small-pebble conglomerates. Thickness 128-225m.

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Yalovach Fm in Eastern Fergana

Upper contact

Unconformably overlain by the Paleogene

Regional extent

Northern regions of the western foothills of the Fergana Range, Eastern Fergana.
